Artist's Description

Edward M. Cotter is a fireboat in use by the Buffalo Fire Department at Buffalo, New York, United States. The original name of the ship was the William S. Grattan, and she was built in 1900 by the Crescent Shipyard of Elizabeth Port, New Jersey. Due to age she was rebuilt in 1953 and was renamed Firefighter upon her return. The following year she was renamed the Edward M. Cotter. Her namesake, Edward Cotter, was a Buffalo firefighter and leader of the local firefighters union who had recently died.The Edward M. Cotter is considered to be the oldest active fireboat in the world and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1996. This image was enhanced using Photoshop with a Topaz Labs filter.

Jim is an Award-Winning Professional Photographer from Western New York. Jim is a 11-time award winner at the Erie County Fair. He also currently does a lot of Photography for the Fire Service including the Photographer for the Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen, as well as several fire departments in the area. Also, a Freelance photographer for Firenews. He is also a Life member of the Lancaster Fire Department of Lancaster NY. Jim does not do a lot of fire chasing but if he is in the area he does make a effort to go to the scene and that some pictures for my brothers, when he is there he usually takes photos of the firefighters in action and also he is thinking about the shot that he can enhance to really make it stand out...
